Vanderbilt’s record-making senior class isn’t done with football just yet. Some of the team’s standouts will get a chance to ply their trade in a game setting one last time before the NFL Draft.
The East-West Shrine Game, a post-season all-star game that also serves as a scouting exercise for NFL teams, has selected three Commodore stalwarts to play in this year’s matchup. Tailback Zac Stacy and cornerback Trey Wilson will join the East team, while defensive tackle Rob Lohr earned a spot on the West side. Stacy and Wilson will be coached by Jerry Glanville, while Lohr will be guided by Leeman Bennett.
Stacy, Lohr, and Wilson weren’t the only Vanderbilt seniors to earn all-star game selections. Quarterback Jordan Rodgers and offensive lineman Ryan Seymour will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on January 19th. Wilson also earned an invite to participate in that game, but chose the Shrine Game instead. The Shrine Game will take place on the same date.
These exhibitions should give Vandy’s departing players another chance to make an impact on any scouts that happen to be in attendance. The Commodores should have a relatively quiet first two days of the NFL Draft now that Jordan Matthews has declared that he’ll return to school for his senior season, but Stacy and Wilson are both candidates to be picked by needy teams in rounds four through seven.
